Fantasy Cricket League Update - Week 14

14 Aug 2024

With the Scout away on overseas duty this week, it is my duty to bring you up to speed with the details from last weekend’s cricket. My apologies if it is not up to the usual high standards!!
It was a disappointing weekend results wise, with defeat for the 2’s, 3’s and 4’s, but the 1’s claimed a crucial 25 points in their quest for promotion to Division 2. There were still plenty of points to be earned from a Fantasy point of view!
The aforementioned 1XI beat Barking after batting first to claim maximum points for the fifth time this season. Robert Page (£6.6m) earned 160 points after his unbeaten half century and (all-rounder?) Matt Higgins (£5.8m) earned 83 points. Returning Bala Sudhakaran (£4.8m) was good with the new ball, picking up 61 points.
The 2XI could not extend their rich vein of form falling to defeat at the hands of West Essex. Jack Scutt (£5.9m) was the standout performer picking up 136 points after his quickfire half century. The ever-consistent Daryl Woodford (£7.6m) kept himself ticking over with a further 49 points.
A game that felt like ‘what could have been’ for the 3XI as some missed chances cost them dearly at Buckhurst Hill. Having said that, the highest individual score of the week goes to Ash Downes (£4.1m) as his 5-wicket haul earned himself a cool 165 points. Dan Copp (£4.7m) made a half century to pick up 109 points. A word of warning for fantasy managers, popular pick Vinay Kumar (£5.0m) picked up an injury which may keep him out of action for a while
Geoff Lake’s (£6.3m) timely return to form continued this week, backing up his century last week with a further 120 points, but could not help the 4XI to avoid defeat against Upminster. Youngster Connor Filsell (£4.0m) picked up 72 points after an all-round performance including runs, a wicket, and 3 catches!
Andrew Love was the manager of the week, after his 60-point hit paid dividends to claim 887 points! The use of the triple captain chip was spot on with Scutty tripling up for 408 points.
Harry Robinson (£4.6m) is still sat on top of the league but must be willing the finish line to come sooner as his lead was again cut this weekend to 217 points.
With the timed fixtures out of the way, we are into the home straight and final four fixtures of the season. Overs games return, and that means a limit on the number of overs a bowler can bowl and fielding restrictions in the powerplay’s. Will this affect your decisions?
IMPORTANT – For the final four fixtures, the start times are earlier for the 1’s (11:30) and 2’s (12:00), so keep in mind who may be hungover from their Friday night exploits when making your transfers this week! 😉
