Fantasy Cricket Scouting Report - Week 9

05 Jul 2024

As the words of a famous song go “…oh, we’re halfway there….”. Yes unbelievably, this weekend marks the midpoint of the league season, where is the time going. Anyhow, all teams will be looking for a reaction following last weeks results but once again selection is challenging as holidays and injuries bite.
The 1XI sees the return of skipper Matt Higgins (5.8m) and fellow bowler Kalum Sampath (5.5m). Can they bowl the team back to winning ways while Tom Willats (6.6m) is away storm chasing.
There’s much rejoicing in the 2XI as they play only one team when hosting Wickford. Dave De Jong (5.1m) is absent so Drew Robinson (4m) takes charge. Freddie Hales (6.2m) wears the gloves while Matt Lewis (6m), Luke Tyrrell (3.9m) and Vinay Kumar (4.9m) add some batting muscle.
The 3XI host Walthamstow in the only club game where the start time has not been moved. Captain Ian Rudder (4.5m) calls up Jack Cable (6m) and will be looking to in form bowler Ash Downes (3.9m) to spearhead the attack. Adam Pickett (5.7m) keeps the gloves on.
The 4XI return to the scene of last weeks game against Orsett at Corringham Rec. Dan Copp (4.6m) is unavailable so Geoff Gullett (4m) takes over. The team also sees the welcome return of opening batter Geoff Lake (6m). Emma Poskitt (3m) is also back in the fray to lead the bowling attack.
Don’t forget the 1XI and 4XI are starting at 10am, the 3XI will be 7 or 8 overs behind with a 10.30am start. Before you ask, I don’t know how this effects the usual 11am cut off time for fantasy league transfers.
As always, to assist with your managerial decisions please see below the leagues latest MVP ratings. My tip of the week is to look at Harry’s team for inspiration.
Good luck to all managers and even more so to all players, fingers crossed for some decent weather.
Enjoy your cricket this weekend.
