Stanford-Le-Hope Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Harold Wood CC 4th XI on Sat 22 Jun 2013 at 13:00
Stanford-Le-Hope Cricket Club Lost By 8 Wickets
Match report
Stanford were left to rue 8 dropped catches as Harold Wood comfortably chased down 198 for the loss of only two wickets.
Captain Neil Fuller lost the toss as usual and on a cold windy day were asked to bat first. This decision looked to have backfired for the visitors as Neil and Clive Ballard put on a century stand for the second wicket, both hitting fifties. At the drinks break the score stood at 128-2 and Stanford looked well placed to post a significant score. However the usually aggressive middle and lower order found the going tough and wickets fell at regular intervals. Jack Carter hit a typically fluent 30 but Stanford just failed to reach 200 and maximum batting points finishing on 198 all out.
Harold Wood's reply got off to a shaky start with a wicket each for Colin Knight and Steve Trigg. This brought their skipper, Wooding and Hill together who then proceeded to smash the ball to all parts with no bowler being able to find the breakthrough. The stand eventually reaching 140 as Stanford shelled numerous chances and Harold Wood reached their target with nearly 8 overs to spare.
