Apologies to all as I must be short this week, I can no longer wear them high heels! Anyway, that’s a whole different story. Right, I’ve got your attention so here we go.
It was a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show this week as the teams seemed to be suffering a hangover following the monumental week of celebrations and the match against the MCC. Defeats across all teams was tough to take but there were still some bright spots. Rob Page scored 48 and took 4 wickets in the first team whilst the 2XI were indebted to Kevin Smith for a fine half century.
The 3XI lost another close game but saw Freddie Robinson continue his fine start to the season with 40 and 3 wickets. In the 4XI, Deepak Kumar starred with 48 from the bat, this was followed up with 2 catches and 1 stumping for a great all-round performance. Matt Evans also had a good day on his return to the team with 37* and 2 wickets.
In the fantasy league, Dan Copp remained top of the standings for the third week and therefore takes the May Manager of the Month, congrats to Dan. Payment will be on its way to you shortly. The chasing pack are hot on your heels though, all to play for in June.
The manager of the week award goes to Terry Busby, who scored 508. This was 40 more then second place but even more remarkable was that he took a 40-point hit to get a few extra transfers in, proving that it does pay to gamble sometimes. Well played Sir!
The player of the week was Rob Page with 113 points narrowly edging Kevin Smith into 2nd place. Both made it into the Team of the Week, which also included 5 debutants. A total of 32 players have now made it into the team with Freddie Robinson and Sam Stannard tied on 3 appearances each.
That’s all I have time for this week; I’m travelling over the next couple of days but will do my best to get something to you during Friday once the teams have been announced. Keep the faith, hard work and perseverance will prevail. That’s me over and out…!
