It was a magnificent day in the history of SLHCC as the 1XI finally clinched promotion to division 2, their first promotion for 10 long years. Massive congratulations go to Matt Higgins (5.9m) and his team for getting up with a game to spare beating Benfleet by 110 runs and condemning them to relegation in the process. Matt led by example taking 5-23 to earn 210 points. He was supported well with Bala Sudhakaran (4.8m) 68 points and Adam Knight (7m) 57 points scoring highly.
The 2XI also took maximum points in a comfortable win by 83 runs away to Wickford. Michael Gray (4.5m) 72 runs and 122 points, Dave De Jong (5.1m) 54 runs and 104 points and Mohit Bhagwani (7.2m) 44 runs and 74 points scoring highly whilst batting. Bowlers Ash Downes (4.3m) 3 wickets and 57 points and Freddie Hales (6.3m) 3 wickets and 50 points then did the damage with the ball for a great all round team performance.
The 3XI had a weekend off as Old Brentwoods cried off.
The 4XI posted a great total of 213-8 away to Chelmsford but were unable to prevent them chasing down the runs. There were good contributions from Selvaraj Shanmuganand (-m) 41 runs, Adam Pickett (5.6m) 34 runs and 44 points, Jordan Pickett (2.9m) 33 runs, 33 points. Emma Poskitt (3m) was the pick of the bowlers with 2-40 and 44 points. The team will be looking to end the campaign on a high as they host Wickford.
In the fantasy league, Harry Robinson (4.6m) stayed top and extended his lead to 55 points over Adam Knight. Its all coming down to the last weekend and it could be the right captain’s pick will decide the final placings. Daryl Woodford (7.6m) sits in 3rd place a further 159 points behind so don’t rule him out just yet. The weekly managers award goes to Adrian Page with 625 points whilst the August manager was picked up by Adam Knight with 2,443. A reminder that there’s no prize for these, just the satisfaction that you were better than everyone else for that week/month!
The final teams of the season will be published on Friday and The Scout will be back for one last hurrah to guide you through the Ins and Outs.
Until then…
