Fantasy Cricket Scouting Report - Week 16

23 Aug 2024

The team news has been published for Week 16, but will the weather gods be kind and allow us to get some games in. If you have been doing a rain dance to get some much-needed water in the garden, you can stop now, thanks!
Its getting a bit tight at the top of the fantasy league so transfers and captains are going to be vital. If you’re not up there, keep going, we’re all playing for pride and positions now.
The 1XI have an interesting fixture away to Hornchurch Athletic. The 1st game was a close affair and if you haven’t seen it, then I guess you was holidaying on the moon or Mars. Ralf Fernando (7.6m) and Lee Knight (6.7m) return for Rob Page (6.8m) and Kalum Sampath (5.8m). A win here will be massive.
The 2XI host promotion chasing Old Souths and skipper Daryl Woodford (7m) will be looking for his team to end the season strongly now that they are safe from dropping down. Louis Hales (3.9m), Luke Tyrrell (3.9m) and Andrew Love (-m) are called up. In form Rama Bashamoni (5.3m) is unavailable.
The 3XI travel to 6th placed Walthamstow looking for the win that will see them mathematically safe. Skipper Ian Rudder (4.5m) and vice skipper Jono Edwards (4.6m) will be ably supported by the 4XI skip and VC in Dan Copp (4.8m) and Joe McCarthey (3.5m) respectively.
The 4XI come up against a strong Orsett & Thurrock 5XI team at home. Geoff Gullett (4.1m) will lead the team with back up from the experienced heads of Geoff Lake (6.4m) and Adam Pickett(5.6m). A win will see the 4XI remain in mid table.
Transfers and captain’s picks will become crucial over the final weeks of the season so take care. With some games possibly in doubt due to the forecasted rain, be aware of any -20 hits that may come back to bite you. If you haven’t used your wild card yet, is it a possibility? You may want to hold off on your triple captain card if you haven’t used it yet, just in case.
Deadline is 11am on Saturday but please look out the window and check the weather first. Fingers crossed we get some cricket in during the day especially as we approach the end of the season. If playing – enjoy, if spectating – enjoy, and if doing both….be on your best behaviour….!!
