With some proper cricket weather at last, there was mixed fortunes for our teams with a win for the 1XI, a draw for the 3XI and defeats for the 2XI and 4XI.
The 1XI took maximum points at home to Harlow and were indebted to Bala Sudhakaran (4.7m) who topped scored with 51 earning 101 points. He was supported by Matt Higgins (5.5m) with 23 runs and then an inspired bowling performance taking 5-36 giving him 218 fantasy points.
The 2XI were up against Colchester and East Essex, so playing against two teams for the second week running (yes, I know it’s an old joke, but I think it’s funny!) but they just couldn’t get over the line. Skipper Dave De Jong (4.9m) top scored with 68 runs and 138 points. The wickets were then shared with two apiece for Harry Robinson (4.5m), Louis Hales (4m), Daryl Woodford (6.8m) and Mohit Bhagwani (7.1m).
The 3XI earned a draw against Horndon. Stand out performance was from Vinay Kumar (4.5m) who scored an impressive 101 with the bat for a massive 256 points. George Church (3.5m) was the main man with the ball taking 3-28.
The 4XI came up short against the league leaders Hornchurch but the young (and very old) team put up a good show. Captain Dan Copp (4.6m) offered the most resistance scoring 28 with the bat and then taking 2 wickets for a weekly score of 58.
Just a reminder that the 5XI friendly was not played for fantasy points, so apologies if you had Joe McCarthy (3.5m) who would have scored over 100 points with his superb fifty.
In the Fantasy League, Joe Robertson (5.1m) took the manager of the week award with 645 points and Harry Robinson (4.5m) extended his lead at the top of the tree to 489 over second placed Dave Gaylor. Still, there’s eleven more weeks to go and plenty of time to catch up. In the race for Manager of the month for June there is currently only 29 points between the top two of Harry and Jono Edwards (4.5m) with one week to play. There’s no prize money just a prestigious title and a mention on Facebook.
All to play for again this weekend so keep the faith. As always team news will be published on Friday at 11am, see you then.
