Welcome to the SLHCC Events page. 2012 is a special year for Stanford Le Hope Cricket Club as it is the 125th year since the club was founded. Here you will find all the details you need for all the events that are planned for 125th Centenary season.

The Social & Fundraising committee have set ourselves a target of £2,500 to raise from the events this year so we need everyone's help and commitment in achieving this target.

New Years Eve Party

The start of 2012 was celebrated in style by all who attended the New Years Eve party. With excellent music and the drinks flowing, there were many sore heads on January 1st. Thanks to everyone who turned up and made the night such a success!!

Event 2
New Years Day Cricket Match (125th)
Sunday 1st January 2012
11am - 3pm
@ The Clubhouse

There were a few weary eyed people who turned up for the 125th New Years Day match after the New Years Eve exploits. On the day, a Martin Leslie VII were comprehensively trounced by a sprightly Kevin Smith VII who mixed experience and youth (and Andy Freeman) to record a 3 wicket victory. All the players and fans then enjoyed some excellent soup and rolls in the warmth of the clubhouse to end a thoroughly enjoyable start to 2012.

Thanks to everyone who turned up and participated, watched or helped with the food!!

Apart from the dissapointing washout on Sunday, the 125th Cricket week was a huge success. With matches being played on Thursday, Friday, League matches Saturday and the CCC match on the Tuesday, it was great to see so many faces past, present and new at SLHCC.

We hope you all enjoyed the week and you all continue to support this great club for years to come

Event 10
Match v CCC (125th)
Tuesday 31st July 2012
Time 11:30am
@ The Clubhouse

To celebrate SLHCC's 125th Year, a SLHCC XI side took on the 3 C's Presidents XI captained by Ardleigh Green's Roy Smith.

The day was a huge success. Excellent preperation work from Mark Nuttall and his team enabled us to really show off our wonderful facilitys. Andy Powley did a superb job with the pitch preperation and Georgie and her team laid on one of the best lunch and tea's I have seen.

In the match itself, Stanford decided to field first with CCC posting 272-7 dec, Ross Poulton and Kevin Smith picking up 3 wickets each. Stanford's response suffered a few hiccups early on but an excellent 111 from Ross gave the fans hope of a great win. Unfortunately his departure signalled the end and SLHCC were all out for 218.

 Event 11
Colts Super Sixes
Sunday12th August 2012
Time 10am
@ The Clubhouse

The Colts Super Sixes was a great success for its first appearance in a number of years. Our A team and a very youthful B team were kitted out in colourful tops with both Stanford sides and our 4 guest sides performing really well on the day. The eventual winners of the Tom Tindale trophy which was presented by current 1st Team player and Tom’s Grandson Ross were Orsett CC who narrowly pipped Stanford A in the final.

Thanks to all players, parents and helpers on the day who made it a great success

Event 12
Community 5k Run
Sunday 19th August 2012
9am - 1pm
@ The Clubhouse

The Stanford Community 5k Run was held on Sunday 19th August at the Cricket Club for a nice run/jog/walk around the designated route.

There was a great turnout from the community with a few of the cricketers even taking part dispelling the myth that cricket is played by old, unfit beer drinkers!!

Phoenix Striders wanted to say a big thank you to the Cricket Club for enabling them to hold the event at the Clubhouse and hope that this will be an annual event with more runners in the future

Event 13
Super Sixes 2012
Sunday 26th August 2012
Time 10:00am
@ The Clubhouse

The 2012 Super Sixes was a unique occasion as the final for the first time ever was tied!! So as it was too dark and late to complete a Super Over, the Trophy was shared by winning captains Jono Simes and Harry Maher.

The weather was great and the beer was flowing as were the sixes being hit!! Kevin Smith even show cased the fact that keeping you eye on the ball does not always result in a catch being taken!! The day was another great success so thanks for all the helpers, fans and players for yet again making the Super Sixes, one of the best events of the year!!!

Event 14
End of Season Cocktail Party
Saturday 8th September 2012
Time 8:00pm

With 2 promotions and a relegation battle success for 3 of the SLHCC teams, the End of Season cocktail party turned out to be a rather messy affair! A Big Thank you again to our master Cocktail creator Richie Hughes and Thanks to all who turned up and got in the ‘Lets get smashed’ mood!!!

Roll on 2013 Cocktail Party!

The last ‘Special’ Event for the 125 celebrations was the Dinner and Dance at Langdon Hills Golf Club. Everyone dressed to impress with plenty of tux’s on show and all the ladies present looked fantastic in their evening dresses.

The night was a great success as the meal was excellent, the speeches were funny, informative and very interesting and the entertainment at the end was a great way to end a brilliant evening.

Thank You to all involved with the evening especially John and Sue Hicks whose time and effort made the night what it was. A fitting event for a wonderful club!

The Annual Presentation evening for SLHCC was yet again another great night. There was a brilliant turn out with our ever expanding colts section joining in on the awards presentations. A wonderful buffet was produced by Georgie, Adrian and co and with shots, beer, wine and all other drinks being consumed; it is safe to say that it was another great event for SLHCC.

 Event 17

The SLHCC Golf day looked like it might not happen as heavy fogged curtailed the Texas Scramble but the 18 hole Stableford tournament for the Rex Page trophy was able to start.

There were 14 players who took part on the day with the Winner being Kevin Smith who recorded an impressive 41 points! Well Done me haha

Longest Drive went to Lewis Robinson’s Dad who pipped Kevin by 10 yards and closest to pin winner was Paul ‘Big Show’ Cross
